Explore Dartmouth

A short drive down the road, you will find the beautiful town of Dartmouth. Winter is the perfect time to explore the town. Packed full of history and charm, there is a lot to discover and uncover. Visit the Castle, the Museum, and the Newcomen Engine to learn some local history. Walk the Mayflower Heritage Trail to learn the town’s links to the USA. And if you find yourself in Dartmouth over the Christmas period, the town has a full ‘Dartmouth in December’ event calendar. See the first ever steam train of lights, enjoy some Christmas shopping at the wonderful selection of independent shops and maybe even treat yourself to something in the January sales! The village hall is the base for all local functions and events. From local theatre performances and horticultural shows to mummy and baby groups, they have a wide list for you to get involved in. Check out their Facebook page to see what events are happening throughout winter. And if you are holidaying with children, check out the large recreation area behind the Hall. You will find Venn Lane Playground, a basketball hoop and a large field ideal for running around. So, why not wrap up warm on a clear day and head to the park for an afternoon of fun.

Wander the South West Coast Path

Wrap up warm and take to the path. Pick it up outside the church and follow it down to Blackpool Sands and on towards Slapton Sands and Start Point one way, or towards Little Dartmouth and Dartmouth Castle the other. You can also drive further down the coast and join the path to explore more of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On sunny days, explore this beautiful coastline in cooler temperatures and, on more blustery days, watch the white horses and feel the sea air blow on your face.
