The Best Christmas Markets in Devon

There is nothing that is more likely to ignite the festive spirit than attending a Christmas Market. The atmosphere, the music, the stalls, and the delicious smell of hot food and drink help to get the festive period underway. Brixham Christmas Market

Brixham will be hosting two Christmas Markets this year. One as part of their Lanterns, Lights & ‘Luminations festival, and one at the beginning of December. The Festival Market will be on throughout the town, on Middle Street, The Strand, The Old Fish Market and The Quay. The Christmas Market on the 7th of December will be in the Town Hall. Pick up local crafts, unique gifts and local goodies.

Opening Times: 22nd-23rd December (Lanterns, Lights & ‘Luminations Festival), 7th December 10am-4pm (Brixham Town Hall)

Buckfast Abbey Christmas Market

Dartington Hall Christmas Fair

Visit the Dartington Estate this December for the fourth Great Hall Craft Fair. Expect a wonderful weekend of makers and designers from the South West gathered in the Great Hall. This year there will be over fifty stalls offering unique gift ideas for a whole range of budgets. Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market

Make it a day to remember at Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market this 15th November to 15th December. You’ll discover something for everyone with over a hundred twinkling festive chalets, local gifts and produce, bars, global street food and seasonal entertainment. There is a new festive area this year, in Exeter Cathedral’s historic Cloister Garden. It features a range of independent businesses from Thursday to Sunday. Alongside the Market, there is a vibrant calendar of world class events, performances, exhibitions, family activities and festive services at the Cathedral to suit all tastes. Be sure to check out the calendar on the website and attend an event too!

Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas

Kingsbridge will celebrate Christmas once again this 7th of December. Get into the festive spirit and eat, drink and be merry. The Farmer’s market will kick off the festivities with their locally grown fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, freshly baked bread, and meat served by the farmers who tended the livestock. There will be an interesting selection of local craft stalls perfect for gifts, and excellent live music and entertainment. If you are looking for a more intimate Christmas Market in Devon, this day of celebration is one to check out!

Plymouth Christmas Market

Experience the festive magic at Plymouth Christmas Market from the 28th of November to the 15th of December. Enjoy log cabins adorned with Christmas lights, offering unique gifts, crafts, clothing and treats. Discover a delicious range of food and drink. Enjoy a hot mulled wine or cider, and some tasty sweet and savoury treats. Take in the festive atmosphere with daily entertainment on the Piazza from local schools and community choirs plus a mix of jazz, steel bands, favourite covers and Christmas tunes. The Market is free to attend and is the perfect place for those looking for unique Christmas gifts and decorations! Make sure to also check out the Plymouth Winter Wonderland from the 15th of December to the 1st of January!

Torre Abbey Christmas Market

A very special Christmas celebration is happening in Torre Abbey this 29th November to 22nd December. The first Christmas Market at the historical Abbey as part of the Bay of Lights. Expect great local food traders, fun family activities and two atmospheric bars offering the best of the South West! Run by the same company who once ran the bar at the Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market, it is the perfect place to get unique gifts for your loved ones.

Opening Times: Monday-Wednesday 3pm-7pm, Thursday-Friday 3pm-9:45pm, Saturday 10am-9:45pm, Sunday 11am-7pm

Totnes Christmas Markets

Get that magical, sparkling feeling when Totnes transforms into a Christmas wonderland on Tuesdays in December. The popular Totnes Christmas Market and late-night shopping is back this year. There will be free street entertainment, good food and drink, artisan stalls and much more to help you make those special festive memories. Enjoy live music and entertainment. Find unique gifts for loved ones. Sip on a mulled cider. Enjoy even more curated street food stalls for 2024 with two dedicated food courts in the Market Square and The Mansion. Cafés and restaurants will also be serving up some favourites! There is also a festive lantern procession through the town at 4:30pm on the 17th of December.
