Occupying part of the historic Butterwalk, the building holds as much history as there is to learn inside. There are extensive collections of artefacts, models, paintings, and photographs all related to Dartmouth’s history. The museum is run by volunteers who are eager to pass their knowledge on to people of all ages. The museum is open seven days a week throughout the year so pop in to learn more about the area and the local history.
Kents Cavern
Located in Torquay this is the perfect indoor activity in Devon. Join a guided tour to explore the caves, taking you back in time to when it was home to ancient humans. As you walk through the caves, you will be surrounded by 400-million-year-old rocks and spectacular cave formations. Learn about how our ancestors used the caves to survive. National Marine Aquarium
This is the UK’s largest aquarium and one of the best indoor activities in Devon. It is part of the Ocean Conservation Trust, a charity dedicated to connecting people with the ocean. There are a variety of different workshops for you to sign up for and hone the craft. Outside also has a ceramic studio, with workshops for complete beginners to seasoned potters. A fun-filled, educational day for all the family. Part of a worldwide network of zoos who care for and breeds rare species. Pay them a visit to learn about animals from all over the world. The Flavel Arts Centre
