Bantham Beach

This popular sandy beach is much-loved by visitors and locals alike. Bantham is known for its sweeping sands and dramatic coastal scenery. It is an ideal destination for those seeking both relaxation and adventure. If you are a surfer, windsurfer or kite surfer, then this is your spot. Stroll through the sand dunes to discover the wonders of this fabulous sandy beach. It is the perfect beach for paddling, swimming and water sports. As the tide recedes, it reveals a variety of fascinating rock pools, teeming with wildlife. These pools provide endless entertainment for curious children and nature enthusiasts alike! Lifeguards are present during the summer months, with dogs allowed on the beach outside of these dates. Just note that the road to the beach is very narrow. You may have to do some reversing!

Beesands

A shingle beach backed by fields and rolling hills.  Spend a day relaxing on the pebbles whilst watching the day’s local catch land. The village and beach are down an old country lane.  Beesands is family- and dog-friendly. There is a children’s playground and dogs are welcome on the pebbles throughout the year.  There are two delicious restaurants located in Beesands that overlook the beach.  If get a bit peckish and fancy some seafood, be sure to check out Britannia @ The Beach and The Cricket Inn.  There are sadly no lifeguards at this beach throughout the year but there are toilets available. There is also disabled access to the beach via one of the two slipways. Beesands is a little oasis, one that not many people venture to. So, if you are looking for a quiet trip to the beach, this is the choice.

Blackpool Sands

Probably the most-loved shingle beach in the local area. This privately owned beach is home to a car park, a Red Paddle Co. shop, sauna, water sports hire, an excellent café, and toilets with baby changing facilities and showers. It is a perfect option for a big day out to the beach. On a summer’s day, it is honestly like being in the Med. There is a stream at the far-right end of the beach, perfect for little ones who fancy a paddle or dip. Wheelchair access is possible via a ramp, and lifeguards are present on the beach between July and September. If you are staying in one of our properties and fancy a trip to the sauna, enjoy at a discount through our Visitor’s Club. Be sure to check this one out on Your Devon Escape.

Castle Cove

A small shingle cove that is only accessible when the tide is out. Unless you know it’s there, you will miss it! Next to Dartmouth Castle, it is a lovely one to visit if you want some beach time during a trip to Dartmouth town. Parking is limited, so either walk from the town or take the Castle Ferry from the embankment steps. There are toilets, a shop and a Tea Rooms near the beach. Stop for a cream tea or a bite to eat after a swim. You will probably have the beach to yourself!

Lannacombe Beach

For a taste of the Westcountry’s rugged, wild and unspoilt coast, head to Lannacombe. Although it’s a small beach in comparison to some of the more expansive beaches further up the coast, Lannacombe is perfect if you want to leave the crowds behind and experience some of the best scenery in the area. There’s a small car park just behind the beach with room for up to 15 cars, so you’ll need to get there early to bag a space, but if you leave it too late there is further parking just a short stroll away. You can bring dogs to Lannacombe beach at any time of year, making this an ideal spot for the whole family. Tucked away from the crowds, it is one of South Devon’s quieter beaches. So, if you want to escape the busy towns, this is the place to head to!

Slapton Sands & Torcross Beach

A picturesque and popular beach that runs along side Slapton Ley. If you are looking for a beautiful beach with the opportunity to do a bit of exploring on the side, Slapton Sands is a great option. There is so much history on this stretch of coast. Slapton was used for the D-Day landing practices, so definitely head to the car park to check out the memorial. Today, this beach is a place where families and friends can enjoy and is home to lifeguards during the summer months. There is a pub and a couple of cafés at the Torcross end of the beach if you get a bit peckish, alongside toilets and parking. If you are looking for a beach near Blackawton, this is a great option!
