Indoor Activities to Enjoy This Winter in Kingsbridge
The winter months are (unfortunately) colder and wetter in Devon. So, why not try out some indoor activities this winter in Kingsbridge. Visit the King’s Cinema to enjoy an afternoon at an old-fashioned ‘pictures’ or check out Quayside Leisure Centre for a swim, a game of squash or an afternoon of play at the soft play area.
Down the road in Salcombe, spend the afternoon at Salcombe Gin Distillery where you will learn the art of distillation in a beautiful mini copper still. Stop for a cream tea at the Harbour Hotel, with stunning views of the estuary. Or head into the city of Plymouth to explore the National Marine Aquarium.
Venture Outdoors This Winter in Kingsbridge
Put on your hat, gloves and scarves and head out on the South West Coast Path this winter. Whether it is a blustery day or bright blue skies, the South Devon coastline is something to admire. Watch the waves crash onto the cliffs and the white horses out at sea or admire the boats bobbing by and the wildlife living. It is truly a beauty! Start Point Lighthouse is one of our favourite spots.
Kingsbridge has an excellent children’s play space in Duncombe Park and the Kingsbridge Recreation Ground where there are also tennis courts and a boules area for adults. On a clear day, pack your tennis rackets and give a game a go or hang out in the park.
To learn some local history, head into the city of Plymouth. Explore the Hoe, the Barbican and even head into Royal William Yard to learn about The Mayflower Pilgrims and the Naval history. It is beautiful to walk around. Stop for a picnic on the Hoe or one of the excellent eateries on the Barbican or in the Yard.
Winter Events in Kingsbridge
There are a whole host of excellent Christmas specific events in the Kingsbridge area for you to enjoy. Kingsbridge hosts ‘Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas’ every December. It is a one-day event run by volunteers. Find local stalls set up on Fore Street and the Town Square where you can buy unique gifts for your loved ones. Or, if you fancy exploring further afield, Plymouth is home to a Winter Wonderland and beautiful Christmas Market.
