Coasteering (with Adventure South)

Jumping from cliffs and ledges, wild swimming through swells and channels, this is a unique way to explore the South Devon coastline.  Adventure South provides amazing experiences for anyone age six and up.  They run experiences in two locations – Gara rock and Salcombe – depending on the level of adrenaline you are looking for.  All equipment is provided, with their days out running from March to November.  Book online today to explore glorious sandy coves and rocky cliffs in an unforgettable way.

Crabbing

Head down the road to Dartmouth or into Dittisham to try one of the local classics.  Loved by all ages, sit along the embankment with your bait and bucket. Spend the afternoon watching the boats fly by as you wait in anticipation to catch one of the many crabs in the River Dart. Grab a takeaway pint from the pub or a fish and chips for Rockfish and settle in. Realise you are a family of natural ‘crabbers’?  Take part in the crabbing competition at Dartmouth’s very own Royal Regatta.

Dartmouth Castle

One of the most beautifully located fortresses in England.  A good family day out whatever the weather.  Learn about Dartmouth’s history whilst exploring the old castle and fort.  Stop for an ice cream, coffee, or lunch at the Castle Tea Rooms.  Accessible by foot, by car or catch the ferry from the Dartmouth embankment.

Dartmouth Outdoor Pool

Enjoy a dip between April and September at Dartmouth’s very own heated, outdoor swimming pool.  Take a picnic to enjoy at one of their picnic tables or on the grassy banks surrounding the pool.  Woggles, rings, and floats are all provided for endless fun.  Booking is recommended with the option of private hire.

Sea Kayak Devon

Slapton Ley Field Centre

Slapton Field Centre is located on the Start Bay coast, surrounded by the two hundred and ten hectares of the Slapton Ley national Nature Reserve.  They offer various courses throughout the year for all ages and educational activities for children.  If you fancy learning more about local wildlife, taking a photography or drawing class, or learning about conservation check out their website.

Totnes Mystery Trail

Become detectives for the day as you explore Totnes. An ideal day out to explore the town, a short drive from Blackawton. The trail can be completed at your own pace but takes about two hours. Follow the directions to find the clues. Make sure you have your eyes peeled! Can you complete it?

Totnes Rare Breeds Farm

A small family run petting attraction set in beautiful surroundings in Totnes. A short drive away from Blackawton, enjoy an interactive and educational experience with the kids. From cuddling with a guinea pig to smothering the feathers of an eagle owl, visit and make some lasting memories. Woodlands Leisure Park

Being the largest theme park in Devon, it is packed with fun for all the family.  It holds the largest indoor play areas in the South West, alongside water slides and a zoo farm.  There is endless fun on offer, whether the rain is pouring, or the sun is shining.  They hold events throughout the year, including a Santa’s Grotto, and welcome special visitors such as Peppa Pig.  Have a look online at what they have going on.  Five minutes down the road, pre-book tickets on their website for a cheaper rate!
