Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary & Buckfast Butterfly Farm
A family run attraction that is open all year round. Their aim is to encourage and inspire visitors of all ages to learn more about the daily life of these two fascinating creatures. Experience the otters in their natural habitat and learn all there is to know about beautiful butterflies. Pre-booking is advised.
House of Marbles
Their main business is to produce quality vintage and traditional toys, games, gifts, and books. However, you will find they have so much more on offer than just a shop. The site has grown over the years to become the shops, glassworks, restaurant, games garden and museums that is present today. Explore the marble museum and set the marble runs going for endless fun. It is the perfect activity for a wet or windy day in Devon. A short drive from Totnes, in Bovey Tracey, pop over for a morning or afternoon of unique fun.
Kents Cavern
Located in Torquay, a short drive from Totnes, this is the perfect family-friendly activity. Join a guided tour to explore the caves. It will take you back in time when the cave was home to ancient humans, sheltering from extreme weather, making fires, and sharpening tools. As you walk through the caves, you will be surrounded by 400-million-year-old rocks and spectacular cave formations. It is open all year round and hosts events throughout the year.
Paignton Zoo
A fun-filled, educational day for all the family. Part of a worldwide network of zoos who care for and breeds rare species. Pay them a visit to learn about animals from all over the world. From feeding times, soft play, and outdoor parks, to train rides, there is truly something for all the family. Accessible for buggies and wheelchair users. Open every day of the year (except Christmas Day).
South Devon Railway
Running along the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes, this train ride can take you to other attractions in South Devon such as the Otter Sanctuary. Holding events throughout the year, this is a unique experience to consider whilst on Your Devon Escape. Open March to October.
Totnes Castle
Climb to the top of the keep and enjoy stunning views over the town of Totnes and the River Dart. Enjoy a picnic in the grounds, with plenty of space for families to relax and run around. Pre-booking is recommended or use your English Heritage membership. Open March to November.
Totnes Rare Breeds Farm
A small family run attraction set in beautiful surroundings beside the South Devon steam railway. It is an interactive and educational experience for both adults and children. Wheelchair and pram friendly, it is a perfect rainy day activity in Totnes. Open March to October. The farm is part of our Visitor’s Club.
